Striving to continually reduce our impact on the communities in which we operate, the Stafford Hospitality group is committed to:
- Comply with environmental legislation and codes
- Educate ourselves to better understand environmental issues associated with our operations
- Measure performance and work toward goals for reducing the environmental impact of our business operations
- Develop and incorporate environmental best practices into everyday hotel operations
Assist employees, suppliers, contractors and partners in joint efforts to minimize our business impact - Communicate our initiatives to stakeholders, guests and owners
Current Environmental Initiatives: - 100% of our owned hotels are active members of the Green Hotels Association
- In room energy management systems are installed reducing the heating and cooling of unoccupied rooms
- Use of energy efficient compact fluorescent bulbs in all guestrooms, and efficient lighting choices selected as replacement of other lighting becomes needed
- Guests are offered a linen reuse participation program in all rooms
- Faucet aerators are installed on all guestroom sinks reducing water consumption
Motion sensing light switches are used to shut off lighting when areas are not occupied where possible - Programmable thermostats are in use in public areas
- Ozone laundry systems are used reducing the consumption of gas used to heat water for laundry operations
- An On Demand hot water systems has been installed and tested to heat only the water as it is needed
- Bulk packaging is used where possible in areas such as laundry chemicals to reduce waste disposal
- Ozone pool systems are being installed reducing the quantity of chlorine and chemicals needed to maintain pools
- Single cup coffee makers are in use providing a more sanitary preparation method and reduction of cleaning chemicals
- Window filming is used where necessary to reduce air conditioning needs
- Outdoor lighting timers are monitored and adjusted with season changes
As we build our future: - National LEED certification is being pursued in a new construction project
- Environmentally friendly building materials, fabrics and flooring are being explored and designed into the projects from the planning stage
- Architects, Interior Designers and professional engaged in the new construction are informed of our environmental commitment and encouraged to participate in all stages green initiatives
- Research and development of new technologies and integration of efficient alternatives are ongoing such as water recycling options, solar parking lot and low level lighting, solar signs, energy star rated laundry equipment and xeriscaping.
